The above pictures highlight 2
examples of very desirable VG & C sealed gin bottles, renown for
being one of the earliest known sealed gin bottles featuring a
blowpipe pontil scar on the base.
Both the above examples are included in Gaetan Crevier's impressive
gin bottle collection, and I was privileged to view his collection
and take pictures during my recent visit to Canada.
The above picture of the pipe pontil does not truly capture the
crudity and splendour of the jagged glass left as an aftermath of
the manufacturing process - it is a very impressive example of early
glass bottle making. |
